Perfumer Laurie Stern and her husband, landscape architect Gary Lazar, opened their lushly scented gardens to this year's Secret Gardens of the East Bay tour, a benefit for Oakland's Park Day School. Throughout the day Laurie welcomed tour-goers to the garden she considers both a scented refuge and her natural laboratory, demonstrating some of the techniques she uses to incorporate the bounty of this "Perfumer's Garden" into her hand-blended natural botanical perfumes.
